This is an experimental page combining the latest 'Gallery' and the 'What's New' page, with a bit of a 'blog' sometimes about the pictures.
The thumbnails for Railway and Aircraft pictures do not link directly to the full size pictures, instead click on the links to the relevant sections.
As this is just an experiment, links on the full size 'Scenic' pictures won't bring you back to this page. Latest pictures are at the top of the page.

15 July - Two aircraft pictures from yesterday in Aviation 2011 , a Hawker 800XP that has just moved from the UK to the Manx register, and a US registered Embraer 145 that stopped for a shor while before heading off to Crete.

13 July - Three Aircraft pictures in Aviation 2011 , again unfortunately shot through the window glass, an Army Lynx that stopped for fuel and the Blue Islands Jetstream arriving on their schedule from Jersey.

12 July - Early morning and a local inshore fishing boat crosses Douglas Bay, with the cruise liner 'Marina' on a day visit

Two aircraft pictures taken yesterday and today at work in Aviation 2011 , unfortunately shot through the control tower windows with resulting loss of quality. First is a Manx registered Pilatus PC12, second an RAF Hawk from Valley, after a practice instrument approach.

11th July - Four pictures taken on the last two days late in the evening. I think the lighting effect on the sky after the Sun has set can be very dramatic. The two others were taken from work late in the evening, on the first one the sunlight just highlighted the yellow flower on the wasteground and on the second I liked the contrast between the bright white of the hotel and the blue of the water, with the orange on the breakwater standing out well.

10th July - Eleven new pictures in Rail 2011 of the Manx Electric & the Steam Railway. The Steam Railway trains were carrying 'Manx National Week' headboards.

Two taken by the Marine Drive, between getting the railway pictures. There was some nice heather in full bloom but I couldn't find the right angle to capture it against the sea - a lot of gorse growing in the grass also discouraged me!

8th July - One new Aircraft picture in Aviation 2011 Linksair Jetstream 31, operting services for Manx2.com

7th July - Four pictures taken in Douglas and one in Onchan. Just pictures taken 'in passing' on visits for other purposes. I always try and keep a camera with me as you never know when a good picture might present itself. If I don't have a proper camera the mobile phone sometimes gets pressed into service, harder to take pictures and not quite the same quality, but it's surprising what you can achieve.

Two pictures of Manx Electric Railway Car No 7 in blue livery in Rail 2011

6th July - A wander around the Peel Castle area, some lovely clear blue seas today.

5th July - Two Aircraft pictures in  Aviation 2011  Citation Excel, Eclipse EA500

2nd July - Two pictures taken close to Ronaldsway and three in Douglas. Taken on the way home from an afternoon shift. At Douglas the tide was out almost enough to walk to the Tower of Refuge.
